One thing not discussed much is how multiples of these death-defying entities interact so I'm interested whether you think the trajectory of values would still be held if we had multiple AI institutions with conflicting values, or immortal entities with conflicting values that battle forever or until one wipes out another and so on. Wouldn't we see natural selection play out in this case? In which case, the trajectory of the future is only as set as the evolution of, say, life on Earth, but perhaps on a different time scale. It is likely that at least some entities will value the generation of new entities that are different to themselves, maybe even in values. I don't know what the game theory implications are of the scenarios youve raised but they don't obviously seem to tend towards an equilibrium ot anything pre-setwrmined as per your article title. Is this just because I havent read your full paper?
